5 Month Update

My last post of Brooks said that he was so close to turning from his back to tummy- well, of course the next day he did it. Now he just continues to roll and roll and roll some more. I will set him down on the blanket and after a minute or less, he is at least 5 feet away from his original position.
Brooks continues to be a happy baby and is sleeping just about 12 hours at night. He loves looking at faces and getting one on one attention. He has the cutest laugh, I will kiss his cheeks and he just keeps his mouth wide open and laughs. If I could only bottle it up...

Some other things Brooks loves to do:

Grab your hair
Touch your face
Make eye contact
Teethers nice and cold (no teeth yet)
Holding one toy with is right hand and switching to his left
Anything he can get his hands on goes into his mouth
Holding little baby blankets
Playing peek a boo
Bouncing on your knee
Loves to hear you sing. We are doing Kindermusik once a week and we are having a blast together.
Brooks is getting better at eating his oatmeal cereal (our doctor said the first food has recently been changed to oatmeal cereal instead of rice cereal). He takes the spoon away from you and will put it in his mouth or sling it across the high chair. Emerson gets a kick out of having Brooks in her high chair. She is pretty good about it for the most part, but will still get mad every once in a while and I will have to feed him in the bouncy seat to keep the peace. It still cracks me up to see this guy in the high chair- he is growing up so fast. Each day gets more fun.

Happy Birthday, Madeline!

A few Sundays ago, we celebrated Madeline Moye's 3rd Birthday at the IOP Rec Center. That park is fantastic. Emerson had a great time running around with all of the kids. Happy Birthday, Mads. Also, big news- Tiffany and Tripp are having baby #3! They are due in June. Congratulations!!!!

Melissa and Thomas are having a ...

BOY!!!

Congratulations to the 58% of you that guessed boy on my poll. Melissa and Thomas had their 20 week anatomy scan and although baby boy was not cooperative for the head measurements, everything else looked good.

We are so happy for you both!

Happy Birthday, Thomas. I'm sure this was the best birthday gift you could receive.
Below is a picture of Melissa and the birthday boy with their BLUE shirts on. Melissa isn't even showing yet!

Boy or Girl???

Aunt Melissa and Uncle Thomas (Thomay, as Emerson says it) find out next Monday, October 18th if they are having a boy or girl.

Please take my poll to the left and make your vote count. You have just over a week! The 18th is also Thomas' 30th birthday and Great Aunt Linda's 35th (ha ha).

Boy or girl, we want a healthy baby! Looking forward to next Monday.

Gamecocks Roll Over the Tide

Congratulations all Gamecocks! Chris and I were at the game with Mom and Dad. This was my only game for the year, I picked a good one!!! I must admit I brought a book to read just in case the game went down hill... but it was not needed.

Emerson and Brooks dressed up for the big game. Emerson asked me to put our cockie flag up today in the car when we went to Madeline Moye's birthday party.

Brooks' 4 Month Appointment

Brooks had his 4 month appointment this past week. It went very well. Emerson held Brooks' hand while he got 3 shots. He cried for about 15 seconds and then all better.

A few fun things:
Brooks is growing like a weed! He is wearing 9-12 months outfits.
He loves to touch your face and pull hair. The other day he grabbed a handful of Emerson's hair!
He found his toes last week, he loves to hold onto his left foot with his left hand specifically.
Brooks is trying to roll over, he tries both directions, but can't quite get over the hump yet. This morning he was on the floor playing and fell asleep on his side.
We started oatmeal cereal this week. The doc said that oatmeal is the new first food for babies. I bet it has a little more flavor than rice cereal. Emerson loves to feed Brooks. Although I have to remind her not to gag the poor kid with the spoon often and you will see in the picture below where some of the food ends up.
Brooks loves his teethers very cold, I think he is teething because he is gumming everything in site.
Likes to play in the exersaucer. Emerson shows him the fun buttons to push.
Brooks loves Emerson, he is always smiling at her. Emerson gives Brooks lots of kisses on the toes. He is a little owl and turning his head to watch her run around the room.

Stats:

Weight: 19 lbs 8 oz- 95th percentile
Length: 26 in- 75th percentile
Head cir: 44 cm- not sure what the % is on this one.

Brooks is the best baby ever. He eats about every 4 hours now and is sleeping through the night. Or at least I think he is, I have started to turn the monitor off when I go to bed so if he wakes up he has to soothe himself now.
