8 Month Highlights

Emerson is growing up so fast! This girl has got some wheels. She is into anything and everything. It is so fun to watch Emerson play with her toys. She will grab one, play with it for 2 seconds, see another toy, crawl over to it, pick it up, throw it down and crawl over to another toy. She does this all day long.

Here are a few more things she is doing now:

Emerson will eat any pair of shoes she can find, loves to pull magazines off the coffee table and wants to sample some of Tuxy's food like you won't believe!

Emerson also loves tupperware and could spend hours in the kitchen just crawling around the island.

She is pulling up so fast, she is like a little monkey. She will crawl over to you and basically use you as a jungle gym.

She loves putting the phone from her nursery rhyme cube in her mouth and crawling around the kitchen.

Loves to clap and give kisses. She gives the cutest little open mouth kisses on the cheek. It just melts your heart! I try not to take it personally when she also kisses the fridge, floor and my knee.

She enjoys hanging and pulling on the kitchen drawers, but hasn't quite figured out how to pull them open yet.

Crawls over to the stairs and has actually figured out how to get up a few of them! Here comes the gate.

I am so lucky to be at home with her every day. I was thinking about ways I can document my memories (like the pictures. videos and blog aren't enough) and I am starting a daily journal to write down my precious moments with her. Like when I read her books- she sits on my lap and puts her tiny hands on my wrists and rubs them so softly, how she just started to clap on her own and thinks she is hot stuff, when I play hide and go seek with her around the corner and she leans as far over as possible to see me, after bath time the other night we were getting her dressed and she just sat there rubbing her little tummy- we love it. My Uncle Jack says you have two banks in life- the bank you keep your money in and the bank you keep your memories in, and I don't want to let one single memory slip by.

Below is a slide show of her 8 month highlights- enjoy! She is growing up too fast, Chris and I are enjoying every second with her.

Rocker Chick

I had a little hair styling session the other night after bath time and I gave Emerson a new look. What do you think? She just stared at me while I was laughing so hard. Poor baby, one day she will get me back. Actually, Emerson did a good job of that today- peed all over her changing pad two separate times today and also on the bathroom floor while I was getting her 2nd bath of the day ready. ha ha

Emerson's First Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! We had a very relaxing weekend mostly hanging around the house and just playing with Emerson. Emerson thinks she is funny when she gets away from us during a diaper change and crawls around without pants.
This past week Emerson and I went to visit Nana. I think Emerson is figuring out that when we go to Nana's, she gets whatever she wants! This could be a problem in the future! ha ha

A few wonderful updates:

Chris' schoolmate from Emory, Stuart, who found out he had cancer back in November, is in remission as of last week! We are so happy for him. Check out his blog at http://www.stuartsmartt.blogspot.com/.

Congratulations to Roxanne and David who got engaged over the weekend! A wedding is set for this May here in Charleston. Best wishes!

Emerson Goes To The Aquarium

Chris and I took Emerson for her first trip to the SC Aquarium this past Saturday. I think we were more excited than she was. At first Emerson looked at all of the people instead of the exhibits. Finally, as we walked into a dark room there was a huge tank lit up to show all of the fish inside and she could see them. We enjoyed showing her all of the fish, turtles, birds, etc. The Aquarium overlooks the water and Ravenel Bridge and we got a few cute pictures. We are going to take Emerson to the Columbia Zoo in April as our next big adventure.

Bad Hair Day

After a pretty long nap one day last week, Emerson had some serious bed head going on. It was pretty funny, we all got a kick out of it. Just another reason why we all can use a little hair product.

More Fun Pictures

West Coast Grammy came to visit for a few days and Aunt Melissa was in town for a bachelorette party and came by to see Emerson as well. We had fun hanging out at the house and taking lots of pictures as always!

Emerson is not looking at the camera- she is looking above me at Baby Noah on tv.

8 Months Old And Loving It

Emerson is 8 months old- time flies after they hit 3 months! She is doing so many things right now...

Crawling much faster
Holding one toy in each hand at the same time (we are working on banging them together now)
Pulling up on toys or anything else she can find to kneel or stand up
Loves chasing Tuxy around the house (I stay very close, not to worry)
Loves shoes, all shoes- Sunday she got a hold of Chris' crocs and Melissa's flats
Enjoys eating nilla wafers and we are working on the sippy cup and holding her spoon
She is not so hot on the puffs that dissolve in her mouth
Emerson loves looking at herself in the mirror and gives kisses to the baby
Emerson will wave sometimes and we are working on clapping
Continues to love being read to and playing with her books
It is almost impossible to change her diapers, she wiggles and turns to her stomach and is on all fours in a split second- sometimes I just have to let her crawl around with a full moon for a while.

Emerson is such a happy baby. Chris and I are so lucky.

Playing With Grandma and Pops

Here are some more pictures from the week Emerson and I were in Nashville. Chris came up for the second weekend we were there. Some of these pictures are us just hanging around the house playing. You will see Pops feeding Emerson her rice cereal- not sure how much actually went in the mouth, you will see her face go from happy to mad really fast. Emerson enjoys crawling on you as you will see in some pictures. The Riley's friends, Tom and Jeannie came by with precious Bella, to see Emerson. One picture you will see Emerson slumped down in the high chair, she was watching Baby Noah while I made her rice cereal. I took her on a walk and we went on the swings at a little playground. She thought it was funny that I got to swing as well. She gets very excited on the backswing for some reason, kicked her legs and made some funny faces. I had Emerson on the bed one afternoon and the light was so pretty, I snapped a few cute ones.
Thanks Grandma and Pops for a wonderful visit.

I can't believe she will be 8 months old tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 2)! Our little baby!!!! She actually has a cold right now, so please say a little prayer that she feels better soon!! We also find out tomorrow if she gets into the Mother's Morning Out program at the church preschool for next fall.
